Laura Linney is an American actress who is popular for her portrayal of powerful but fragile characters. Born to a famous playwright's father but being raised by a single mother who made a living in the field of nursing, she became interested in theatre while spending summers with her father, eventually studying acting, initially in Brown University and then at Juilliard School. Following her graduation from Brown University she began making her Broadway debut in the following year. Within two years of the time, her debut film came out and the following year, her debut on television. She has appeared in innumerable films, and television as well as stage productions ever since. Over the course of her career, she won numerous awards including two Golden Globe Awards. However, in spite of all the awards she has received acting has been her first love and she is still appearing on screen and on stage.
