Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou is the youngest of four children born August 9, 1976, from Beaumont Puy of Domme. Audrey Tautou's parents, who are a dental doctor and a school teacher were supportive and encouraged by her passion for acting and theater. Her initial dream to become a master monkey was eclipsed by her wish to study theater and drama. Her meteoric rise as a young actress was swift and marked by her early successes. It was only at the age of 1999 after which she began acting professionally. After her studies, Tautou was a participant in the French talent scouting television programme Jeunes Premiers. Though she was a student at The Institut Catholique de Paris and was a member of the church during her childhood, Tautou has stayed away from her religious upbringing and has stated she's not Catholic. She pursued a modelling career along with her acting career. She is the model for L'Oreal Mont Blanc and Chanel is often called the Chanel Muse. Photography is another passion and she recently exhibited her work in the Arles festival with the name Superficial. Through her photography, she focuses primarily on celebrity and the spotlight. The camera is turned towards journalists who scrutinized her rise to fame in Amelie. Audrey Tautou shot to stardom as well as international recognition with her debut role as the lead in the film Le Fabuleux Destin de l'Amelie Poulain. Amelie is undoubtedly a huge box office smash internationally and has been lauded at numerous award festivals around the globe. It's the most-grossing French film to be released in the United States. The success of this movie led Tautou to a variety of roles, ranging from British dramas as Dirty Pretty Things by Stephen Knight and Jean Pierre Jeunet to Hollywood's The Da Vinci Code with Tom Hanks.
