Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej Now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to be awarded a score of 10 for the Olympic competition. Bela Karrolyi is a Romanian gymnastics instructor, who later became Comaneci's coach, first discovered Comaneci at the age of six. The year 1969 was the first time she participated in the Romanian Junior Games and finished 13th. In 1970, she won the title. In 1972, during a meet of communist countries juniors before the Olympics, she won three gold medals. In 1973 and 1974 she won the all-around junior champ. At her first competition as a senior in 1975 she bested the Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva the five-time European champion, winning 4 gold and one silver medal. She won the American Cup in New York City in 1976 and became the first woman to perform a backward double salto as dismounting from the uneven bars parallel to each other. The story of Carol Wayne in the world of entertainment started as a teenager. Together with her sister Nina Wayne, she joined touring entertainment programs that were known as Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne was a born on 6th September, 1942 in Chicago Illinois. Carol began her career in entertainment in her teens. She started her career as a model skater with her younger twin sister Nina Wayne as part of the shows that traveled around named Ice Capades. The shows featured theatrical ice-skating performances.
